Ghost In A Flower
By Gelzone Unsas
「泣きたい私は猫をかぶる」(I Want to Cry So I’m Putting on a Cat) is a 2020 Japanese animated film directed by Masaki Watanabe and produced by Studio Colorido. Not gonna lie, I’m not a big fan of the film itself, but this track? Absolute fire. 「花に亡霊」(Ghost In A Flower) by Yorushika (n-buna) is one of those songs that hits different.
About the Song
The original soundtrack captures that signature Yorushika sound—melancholic melodies paired with poetic lyrics that feel like they’re speaking directly to something inside you. It’s the kind of track that stays in your head long after the credits roll.
About the Arrangement
Here’s my cover arrangement:
The summer I shot this video, I was at Tolhoe Lake doing some fishing. After a full day on the water, I stumbled upon a secret spot on the east side of the lake—it was peaceful, isolated, and honestly perfect for filming. The natural light filtering through the trees, the quiet… it just fit the vibe of the song.
For the arrangement, I drew heavy inspiration from Steve Hansen’s fingerstyle approach, but then went in with a lot of edits and additional layering. I wanted to build something that felt alive and dynamic. Some of my favorite additions are the natural/nature samples I used as beats and percussion—the textures of water, wind, and rustling leaves give it an organic quality that ties everything together.
Big shoutout to Saltyfish for laying down the electronic guitar solo on this track. That part really elevated the arrangement and gave it that extra edge.
It was a fun one to put together. Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
